A hive of activity has been taking place at The Wood Norton, which is located just 2 miles from our office, so we are keeping a very close eye on their long awaited new function room, The Orangery. This room will be able to seat 120 people theatre style and 80 cabaret style and offers stunning views over the formal gardens, so lots of natural daylight but just in case, they do have black out facilities.

The Wood Norton is located in the heart of the Midlands, just 15 minutes drive from J6 of the M5 and ideally located from the M42 in Worcestershire.

The newly refurbished Dormy House in the Cotswolds is now open for business and it’s looking very stylish, so no wonder its one of the Cotswold’s best-loved luxury hotels. We’ve also got the Spa to look forward to, which opens its doors in late January 2014. The hotel is part of the Farncombe Estate, some 400 acres in total so its good to know that if you need meeting space, it has a big brother – Farncombe Conference Centre.

This is an award winning, meeting, training and team building venue with 9 meeting rooms to choose from, all with natural daylight. Dormy House also has a little sister – Foxhill Manor – and again we watch with interest as the venue is currently being transformed into a luxurious 8 bedroom Exclusive Use venue, complete with its own lounge, bar, dining room, media room and meeting/function room for up to 80 guests. Available from Spring 2014.

If you are interested in the above properties and wish to make an enquiry, please let us know.

So why Events by Karen Tanner?

I was formerly known as Karen Johnson in the industry and having married in June 2009, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to change my name and I wanted the company name to do exactly what it says on the tin.

What’s your background?

In 2001, I went into partnership with two other people, and like all relationships we had our ups and downs but finally in 2012 we came to a crossroad and I felt it was time to go it alone. I have no regrets about leaving, I had an amazing time but its now its all about Events by Karen Tanner.

What ‘s your USP?

Creativity, Communication, Expertise and Innovation – all the ingredients to make any event truly exceptional.

What’s important to you?

The events industry is all about people buying people. There are so many agents in the industry now offering the same thing but at the end of the day, clients want to work with people they can trust, so being trustworthy and reliable is of utmost importance to me. I treat all events as though they are mine so clients can see that I really do care – it’s all in the detail.

What event services do you offer?

Client events are never the same and I want to make sure we always offer the best in venue-finding (UK and International), event management, delegate management, on-line registration, logistics, budget control, entertainment and themes, gala dinners, audio-visual production, augmented reality, media and team building.

So when you’re not managing events, what do you do?

Put on my dancing shoes and go ballroom dancing, put on my walking boots and take my gorgeous golden retriever for a walk, or put on my wellington boots and go gardening!
